Scar Camouflage Treatment Instructions
Before
- Wear loose comfy clothes on the day of the appointment; the treated area(s) might be sensitive.
- Eat healthy, well-balanced food before the appointment and drink a lot of water.
- No lotion, oils, or sweat on the skin.
- No tanning a week prior. Please make sure your skin is not tanned so that permanent makeup artists can match your correct skin tone.
- No alcohol or blood thinners 3 days before your appointment.
- No intense workout at least 2-3 days before your session. Putting strain on your muscles can cause swelling and soreness. It can also cause your skin to stretch slightly which can affect the final result.
- No antibiotics. Being on antibiotics 20 days before the treatment can increase healing time.
After
- Be sure to wash your hands thoroughly before touching your procedure area(s) to avoid any kind of bacteria or infection.
- Do not shower for 24 hours.
- Avoid heavy exercise for 3 days as excessive sweating might pull the pigment out.
- Allow the crusts to flake off by themselves. Do not scrub or rub the area.
- Avoid active sun & tanning.

How long does a procedure take?
For the actual Scar Camouflage procedure, the process may take anywhere from 30 minutes to over an hour depending on the size and nature of the scar.
I have a facelift scar and would like it camouflaged. Can I receive cosmetic laser treatments in the future?
The pigment used in Scar Camouflage contains Titanium Dioxide. This is an opaque white pigment base that cannot be lasered. It can turn the pigment color into black. You simply need to inform your laser technician that you have had Scar Camouflage and they will avoid direct contact between the laser and the scar.
When will I see the final result?
The final result will be revealed after 7-10 days of healing. You will return in 4-6 weeks for a follow-up visit to determine if the color tone and depth are satisfactory. It is typical to schedule a touch-up at this visit to perfect the results. Scar Camouflage is tricky and should be done in increments to ensure a natural blend.
To understand the procedure process better, think of the pixels in a digital photo. Pixels are dots of color that, when added together, create a picture that the eye sees as solid. The same is true when doing successful Scar Camouflage. A dotted or pixelated technique creates a visual impression of blended color that makes the scar “disappear”. Too solid color implantation will just create a new scar of a different color. It is important to be conservative when adding color to a scar, therefore several procedures may be necessary to ensure a natural result.
